Recently I redecorated my bedroom (I still live at home) and therefor also upgraded my equipment. I went from having a portable cd/cassette player to a beautiful 40 inch tv with soundbar and a Blu-ray player. Here's a rundown of everything I use to listen/watch music.
The tv is paired with a Samsung HW-K450 soundbar. This soundbar gives a great sound and is easy in use. It comes with a wireless subwoofer (not pictured, sorry) that I have hidden away under my desk. It comes with a remote control that allows me to chance the settings to my desire. It also has several pre programmed settings, such as movie, music and sports. My favorite is movie, it makes such a different while watching a show or movie compared to the standard settings. It instantly gives you the feeling of being in the cinema. The soundbar comes with a standard optic cable, but I bought a separate cable (HQ High End 1,5 meters) cause I didn't know it came with a standard cable. And since standard cables aren't always of the same quality as separately bought cables I figured I might as well use it. The only downside to this soundbar is actually more related to the system I bought to attach it.
I bought a pair of soundbar holders so I could attach my soundbar to my tv, but it didn't have any fitting screws for my tv. Apparently I would need a wall mount first before I could attach the soundbar. Which is a complete waste of money. So my friend improvised his own system. Which isn't as good looking as what I was going to use, but it works and it doesn't look awful. I might cover the wood with a nice piece of fabric and I still need to do something about all the wires, so there might be an update on that in the future. It's a great solution and it works just fine, it's unusual, but it doesn't bother me.
Then also paired with my tv is this Samsung BD-J4500R blu-ray player. This is a very simple and small blu-ray player. Exactly like I wanted it. The more expensive blu-ray players are often connected to the internet so they can turn your tv into a smart tv. But since I already have one it would be fairly useless to invest in a more expensive blu-ray player of which I wouldn't use half the functions I payed for. Because it's a Samsung player it works seamless with my tv and soundbar which makes it very easy. The only downside (if that) to this might be that it has no standard HDMI cable, but that's not a big deal. As standard cables aren't always the best quality. So I just ordered a separate one, (Veripart HDMI cable 1,5 meters) which was fine with me. Especially since you have no control over how long a standard cable will be. So you might still end up buying a separate cable anyway.
Then on to headphones. This are my Beyerdynamics DT 770 PRO (80 ohm), this are a pair of studio headphones, so not regular consumer headphones. These headphones get used in many radio, tv and recording studios. For example at BBC Radio 1. Watch any Live Lounge performance and they're all wearing these babies. And there's probably a reason for that. Cause the sound is really good and clear. Just to be clear, a studio headphone has no extra tweaks as far as bass or anything goes. It just plays the music as it is. No amplifying of any kind, which is different from the standard consumer headphone.
These headphones are very comfortable, the ear pads a very soft and can be replaced if needed. The padding around the top can also be taken off and (probably) replaced. The cord is very long, so no worrying about it being too short. Before buying I read that some people feel like it sits too tight on their heads, but I have trouble with that at all. I use this mostly when I'm on my laptop, listening to music. I wear glasses and even while wearing it for a long period of time it hasn't given me any pain or other troubles. The headphones feel sturdy and decent and will probably last a long time. The cable is also nice and thick, so no easy risk of breaking it. Which is good for someone like me, since I broke my previous 2 headphones. This may be a bit of an investment, but it's so worth it. Cause these headphones will last you for years and years.
The finally onto my Beats Tour2 In-Ear Headphones in black. If I'm on the go I like listening to music as well, but to drag those giant headphones along with me seems a bit too much. After ruining my previous pair of earphones my friend recommended me Beats. I had heard of Beats before, but had never tried them. I wasn't exactly thrilled at the idea of in ear earphones, but my friend assured me they would stay in really well and weren't uncomfortable. So I took a gamble and ordered them. They come with several pairs of earbuds and hooks in different sizes to make sure they will fit well for most people. To be honest I still can't wear them for a long time or they get very uncomfortable for me after a while. For a short time they work fine, but for a longer time i prefer my Beyerdynamics headphones. Another thing with Beats is that they have quite a strong bass in their earphones, a little bit too much for my liking to be honest. If I had known this before buying I probably wouldn't have bought them. I still like them and use them, cause they were quite expensive for a pair of headphones.
The quality of the headpones is good enough. The flat cord prevents tangeling, but it does feel a bit fragile, so I'm always very careful with them. They come with a handy case to protect the headphones when you are not using them. The headphones also come with a remote control attached to the cord, unfortunately these work best when you are using an Apple device, which I am not. But that is to be expected since Beats is owned by Apple. The remote still works, but isn't fully functional on Android devices.
That's it for today. These are all my own products, I payed for them with my own money. I wasn't sponsored by any of the brands in this blogpost. If you have any question feel free to leave a comment below and I will get back to you.
